First day of orientation!!!!

After months of planning, 500 miles of training, and 5,000 dollars raised for affordable housing - WE'RE ALL FINALLY HERE!!! Welcome to Jacksonville, Florida!

The leader crew arrived early to help set up the space and get everything prepped and ready for riders. PLENTY of bananas for all!! We were welcomed by our amazing host community members of St. Paul's by the Sea Episcopal Church.

Jeane and Kenny Richards (pictured above left with their dog Scout) were two such members, they graciously shared their home and helped provide meals for our crew. We are so thankful to be welcomed time and again. It is so surreal to finally be here in Florida, just a few blocks from the Atlantic Ocean. We even got a warm, clear view of the "super flower blood moon" over the ocean (pictured above right) -- click here for professional photos taken in Jacksonville!!!

After riders arrived, we got our jerseys + lights and started getting to know each other. Most of the day was spent going over Bike & Build specifics and showing off our theatre skills with policy skits. The day would not be complete, however, without noting the delicious dinner that the members of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew provided. Shrimp cooked "to perfection". Our team was even given a shrimp peeling demonstration by Mike Borno (pictured in a white tee-shirt and blue Navy hat).

What a wonderful, action packed first day.

Hard to believe only this morning we were all (almost) strangers.
